1. Dishoom

You’ll get your brunch favourites with an Indian twist here, so expect a little coriander or chilli mixed in with your eggs.
When it’s cold there are few things more satisfying than Dishoom’s House Chai – and the Bun Maska is designed to dip right into it, Bombay-style.
Good for: The Bacon Naan Roll deserves its signature dish status – but do try it with egg as well

2. Eastway

This East End hotel brasserie in the Andaz Liverpool Street has its own in-house bakery, so its bread and pastries are super fresh.
You’ll find all the usual brunch classics: a full English, pancakes etc – however they have added in some twists on the usual eggs benedict. The Brick Lane version comes with curried potatoes and a Dosa pancake, while the Eggs Sanchez features chorizo and guacamole with the traditional muffin and Hollandaise sauce.
Good for: Their signature dish is the “Love it or “ate it” Chicken – so named because it’s glazed with spices and Marmite. It comes served with a rosemary and bacon waffle.

This large and airy cafe serves up breakfast with sourdough bread, and you can get your eggs benedict with pork belly, halloumi, bacon or salmon.
Good for: Their coffee of course – but they do Prosecco and Bloody Marys if you want a pick-me-up with your breakfast

4. Duck & Waffle

Britain’s highest restaurant (it’s at the top of a 40-storey skyscraper) has an unusual menu you won’t find anywhere else in the country – think Ox Cheeky Benedict and the Full Elvis waffle.
A great place for a boozy brunch, with a sommelier selection of wine, a choice of Champagne and of course the traditional Bloody Mary to drink, all overlooking London.
You’re advised to book in advance, and don’t rock up in trainers and shorts – they do have a dress code.
Good for: The signature dish is, of course, duck and waffle – a crispy leg confit along with a fried duck egg, topped with mustard maple syrup.

5. The Book Club

Based in a former Victorian warehouse, there’s plenty of space for breakfast here – as well as special exhibitions and art to look at while you eat.
Their breakfast range is decent, with everything from the Full English (meat & vegetarian options) to Huevos Rancheros and avocado on sourdough toast if you want something more international.
Good for: The B.B.L.T – Black pudding is added to this twist on the traditional classic.

6. Verden

They also have “Breakfast Wine and beer” – specially designed to ease you into the weekend – or help you revive.
Good for: The Lambton & Jackson Kipper (from their smokehouse in Essex) – which comes with poached egg and spinach.

7. Counter Cafe

This lovely independent cafe in east London has a great location, inside the Stour Space art gallery and alongside the Lee Canal.
You can try a humble homemade bacon sandwich or go for it with their deluxe brunch – Chorizo sausages, marscapone, slaw and chickpeas are added to the toast, eggs and bacon.
While it’s lovely to visit all-year-round, in the warmer months you can have brunch on their tropical pontoon, overlooking the water.
Good for: Its coffee – they have their own San Franciscan Roaster producing coffee every day (and you can buy bags to take home)

One of the newest weekend brunch spots, you can start your meal with some rock oysters before heading into the main menu.
They offer the traditional items but with some interesting flavours, like smoked Pollock kedgeree and fried bloodcake with potatoes and eggs.
Good for: House smoked bacon, hash and fried eggs – washed down with a Bloody Mary from their list.

11. Ivy’s Mess Hall

Good for: Their organic egg dishes stand out

This “picanteria” – essentially an all-day restaurant – keeps its brunch menu simple and short.
Try the traditional Peruanazo – eggs with pancakes, rice, butterbeans and bacon – for something different.
Good for: Their Super Bloody Mary – it has pisco and rocoto tiger’s milk added to it for a nice twist

14. New St Grill

This classy venue used to the the East India Company’s 18th century warehouse, and the decor uses the exposed brickwork to good effect.
You can start with rock oysters or duck eggs, before moving onto their full English.
If you want something more along the lunch lines, there’s a whole range of steaks as well as Sunday roasts.
Large groups (10-14) can book their two or three course set brunch menu – you can also add Prosecco.
Good for: Their breakfast waffle comes with a sweet maple & truffle syrup, along with the bacon and sausage.

15. Long White Cloud

Good for: Depends on what you pick first, the chicken or the eggs.
